Roughly a 3.5 hour drive away on the other side of the state sits the gorgeous beach town of Sarasota, Florida. This is a great place to unwind your knots and sit on the beach listening to the soothing waves of the Gulf of Mexico. John Ringling, the circus mogul, developed much of Sarasota and is responsible for creating a rich arts and cultural scene. People from the northeast who are used to big city amenities enjoy those same luxuries in Sarasota yet found in a smaller town.

Longboat Key is another fabulous barrier island off the coast of Sarasota and Bradenton. It is 11 miles long so it offers a variety of home and condo options. Longboat Key condos are popular here because they are owned as vacation properties. Condos are easy to lock up and leave. The beaches here are stunning as well and much more private than Siesta Key. You can walk for miles on the beach and see very few people
Lido Key is the small barrier island situated between Siesta Key and Longboat Key. It is located only 2 miles off downtown Sarasota. The beaches here are pretty and the real estate is amazing. Here you will find the world famous St. Armands Circle. A fabulous place to eat an ice cream, grab a meal at a sidewalk café, enjoy a tasty drink to end the day or do a little shopping.
There are many places to stay in Sarasota. If you decide to spend a long weekend here a few of the nicer hotels include The Longboat Key Club, Ritz Carlton, Hyatt, Hotel Indigo, Lido Key Beach Resort and Lido Key Holiday. It is only a short jaunt across the state and a great place to escape for a few days.
