On Friday, November 22nd, the organizers of the Festival of the Arts Boca will hops a special event to announce the 2014 line-up of artists and authors. This event will be held at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center found at 201 Plaza Real. Included will be a cocktail reception, the premier of “I Am Not A Rock Star," an award-winning documentary and a post-film concert with pianist Marika Bournaki.
The Film
Over an eight-year period, the film was shot and directed by Bobbi Jo Hart. It's a coming of age story about pianist Marika Bournaki. One of Bournaki's performances is the major scene and it happened in South Florida. The film has won many awards and has been featured at many festivals throughout the year including the Festival del Sole in Napa and at the Lincoln Center in New York.
Bournaki is a world-class performer and known as an excellent pianist. She provides a fresh face to classical music and her innovative approach brings the music alive. She collaborates with young, up-and-coming artists regularly and worked with Moment Factory on, "Let's Play."
Her most recent performances include a recital at the Onassis Cultural Centre in Greece, a benefit for the Glenn Gould Foundation at Carnegie Hall, recitals at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, a performance at the Konzert Accordate Series in Germany, a recital at Plaza Hidalgo in Mexico and many more. She has performed with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and all over the world including Italy, England, Romania, South Korea and Switzerland.
This event will provide plenty of excellent music and a great film. Tickets are only $25.
The 8th Annual Festival of the Arts Boca will happen from March 6th to March 15th, 2014 at the Mizner Park Amphitheater. The line-up will be announced on November 22nd at this special event.
