Property Tax Exemption for Homestead Property - What is it?

TaxesIf you own property in Florida as a permanent residence, then you may be eligible to receive a homestead exemption. The homestead exemption, in most cases, grants an $50,000 exemption from the assessed value of your house for tax purposes. This valuable benefit could save you close to $1,000 per year in property taxes. Additionally, the assessed value (the value the Property Appraiser uses to calculate the property tax) of your home cannot increase by more than 3% per year.

What you need to file

Chanukah ImageThis coming Sunday night marks the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah (Chanukah). Also known as the Jewish Festival of Lights observers celebrate by lighting the Menorah (candelabra) candles for eight nights. The following cities will be celebrating the holiday with the following events.

 

MENORAH LIGHTING - DELRAY BEACH - DECEMBER 6TH @ 5:30PM

Delray Beach will host a ceremonial lighting of the first Menorah candle at sundown Sunday, which is about 5:30 p.m.

The candle lighting will be held on the grounds of Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Ave., adjacent to Atlantic Avenue. Limited seating will be available.

Homeowners InsuranceWhat is it?

An insurance inspection providing information on the four mechanical aspects of a home. These four points are the roof, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.

What does it do?

The inspection provides the age and operating condition of the inspected items. It also provides the remaining life expectancy. Observable damage is noted as well as specific conditions or materials which may present a risk of damage or injury. Examples include: hazardous electrical panels, double taps on wiring, roof damage, polybutylene piping and overloaded electrical issues. Any systems with a life expectancy of less than five years may be an issue.

Underwriters will not normally insure a property with a poor Four Point Inspection.
