Selling Your Boca HomeAs a home owner or potential home seller in South Florida, you’ve probably heard at some point how landscaping can help get your home sold faster and perhaps for even more money than you initially expected. But just what does that mean exactly and what steps should you take in order to maximize your home’s value from a landscaping standpoint?

Well, did you know the American Society of Landscape Architects (ALA) recommends home owners invest 10% of their home’s value in landscaping? Seems like a lot, right? But you when really start diving into what will make the outside of your home really standout, expenses will start to add up quickly.

To most people, landscaping means keeping your lawn mowed, keeping your bushes trimmed, and maybe even planting some flowers here and there to give your backyard a little color. But based on various ALA studies, lighting, outdoor seating and dining areas, planters, sculptures, and other garden accessories are really what capture the attention of most people, including prospective home buyers touring your property.

When trying to prioritize, most landscaping professionals recommend spending the bulk of your budget on what people will actually use—an outdoor kitchen, patio furniture, or the patio area as a whole. But that doesn’t mean the easy stuff like plants, shrubbery, and a well-manicured lawn won’t go a long way in making your backyard visually appealing right at first glance.

So if you're thinking about selling your Boca home this spring, remember to think of landscaping as an investment that will ultimately payoff, as long as you're smart and strategic about what you do and how you do it.
