As you may have perviously heard or read about in a recent article from the Sun-Sentinel, new construction single-family homes under $300,000 in both Palm Beach and Broward counties are becoming increasingly difficult to find on today’s housing market, which to active buyers already browsing what’s available, is hardly news at this point.
So just why exactly is it so hard to find an affordable new construction home in Boca Raton or the surrounding area? Well, thanks to a very active market, labor shortages, and rising costs for land and building materials, home builders all over the South Florida region are opting to build for luxury home buyers rather than for first-time buyers or young and growing families, leaving a significant shortage of newly built homes under that $300,000 price point.
As experts working in the Palm Beach County real estate market every day, it's hardly surprising to read about how limited inventory is right now for new construction homes at just about any price point, but especially in the entry-level category. But even still, seeing just two available listings at the time of this post does feel a little shocking, even to those of us working in the industry.
